Questions a clinic should ask before buying AI documentation software
Before buying AI documentation software, ask who approves the notes, whether it replaces your EHR, how intake is tailored to your specialty, how patient data is isolated, and what the first week looks like. The answers tell you more than any demo.
Having built CliniqFlow, these are the questions I would ask any vendor, including us.
1. Who approves the note?
If AI-drafted notes can reach a chart without a clinician's approval, walk away. Drafts should stay drafts until a licensed practitioner signs.
2. Does it replace our EHR?
If yes, plan for a migration project. If no, ask exactly where it sits in your day.
3. Can intake be tailored to our specialty?
A generic form wastes patients' time and yours. Ask to see the questionnaire for your specialty.
4. How is patient data protected?
Ask about encryption in transit, tenant isolation and role-based access. Ask for the security policy and the list of subprocessors.
5. What happens in the first week?
The best answer is concrete: "You create a workspace, finish onboarding and send your first intake link." Vague onboarding usually means long onboarding.
6. What does it cost as we grow?
Know the price for your current size and the next tier. CliniqFlow publishes its plans for that reason.
